My calendar tells me it is December 2009, but my mind goes back to previous years. The company parties, gift exchanges and the laughter that came with the unexpected surprise of a gag gift. Christmas mornings with my children watching their eyes so big seeing what Santa Claus had brought them from the North Pole. Driving through the neighborhoods to see the beautiful displays of holiday lights and decorations, listening to my children say “ooh, aah” from the back seat of the car.
Those were the days and I so look forward to the new days to come. Hearing the laughter and seeing the joy on friends and families faces are truly something to reminisce about each and every year.

2009 has gone by in a flash and 2010 is less than a month away, and if you are like me, then you can’t believe it. I’ve often told people of my theory that time goes by faster with each passing year and soon it will feel like the year’s gone by in a month, and who knows, maybe it will. Christmas is only a few short weeks away and already I can feel the tension from the people that surround me. 2009 was not an easy year for many and I know that many people wish they could delay Christmas or skip it all together, and trust me, I understand. But maybe we should take this opportunity to remind ourselves of what Christmas Spirit really is. It’s not the act of giving someone gifts and getting a gift of equal value back, if everyone was going to do that, then they could just save their money or buy what they wanted anyways. We need to take time to value what we hold close to us and show the people that we love how much we care about them by spending time with them. We often forget that life itself is short and it is important to share moments with our friends and family. Everyone knows this year has been rough, so people will understand if gifts can’t be given, the best gift you can give is your presence, your support, and your love. Be thankful for what good things you do have in your life and try to keep your held high through this holiday season. Merry Christmas!!

Here we are approaching the holidays yet again, and most of us are so busy stressing out about the expenses of them, that we forget what is supposed to be important. The holidays are the time of year when we get to see all of our family and friends that we love to see, and a few that we don’t. We often dread the travel and the hassle of figuring out where to go and who not to leave out. This Thanksgiving I want everyone to remember what they are thankful for. I realize that this year has not been an easy one for many, but remember that there is always something or someone to be thankful for, besides, someone out there has it worse than you. Theodore Roosevelt once said, “Let us remember that, as much has been given us, much will be expected from us, and that true homage comes from the heart as well as from the lips, and shows itself in deeds.” This Thanksgiving prove your holiday spirit with actions from your heart and give back to those in need this holiday season.
