I just read a great book by T Harv Eker, “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” The book is an absolute must read, no doubt about that. It talks about how everything you do today; be it money, health, weight, family, is a result of conditioning when you were a kid. So many of the examples ring true to me. The book helps you to reformat your way of thinking so that you are thinking in a way that will help you and remove all of the things your mind will do to sabotage you. Get the book, executive summary, whatever. It is a great read.

They say that personal storms and life challenges are the best way learn about yourself, develop toughness and grow yourself. I am a firm believer in this theory, but it is really hard to think this way when you are right in the middle of a personal or professional challenge.
Try to go back and think of the last time you went through something similar. How are you doing now? You are alive aren’t you? Many of the challenges I look back on seem sort of silly, and the things I worried most about never came to fruition.
Instead of focusing on the negatives of the situation you are in, focus on the positives. All storms end, one way or another, look to the ending of it, and focus on that. It never is as bad as it feels when you are right in the middle of it.
Also, I did get tougher, and learned more based off of my last challenge. Is this consistent with your history?

My calendar tells me it is December 2009, but my mind goes back to previous years. The company parties, gift exchanges and the laughter that came with the unexpected surprise of a gag gift. Christmas mornings with my children watching their eyes so big seeing what Santa Claus had brought them from the North Pole. Driving through the neighborhoods to see the beautiful displays of holiday lights and decorations, listening to my children say “ooh, aah” from the back seat of the car.
Those were the days and I so look forward to the new days to come. Hearing the laughter and seeing the joy on friends and families faces are truly something to reminisce about each and every year.
