What Makes Someone Prosperous?

by The Professor on October 9, 2009

Prosperity is one of those words that you hear and immediately think of financial wealth, but is that really the only thing that makes someone prosperous? Wikipedia’s definition of prosperity says that Prosperity often encompasses wealth but also includes others factors which are independent of wealth to varying degrees, such as happiness and health. Many people these days are so busy trying to keep up with the Joneses , that they forget to slow down and appreciate what is already in front of them.I came across this article on sideboard.com written by Julie Plenty and she is asking the question, “What is Prosperity?” She says that Prosperity isn’t about what you have or own, but what you feel about what you have or own. It is about recognizing life’s abundance. She believes that Prosperity is a state of mind and that people who don’t have much can still be appreciative and feel prosperous with what they have. Life is a chain of cause and effects and if one chooses to be negative and constantly focus on what they don’t have, their life will reflect their attitude and disposition. On the other hand, if you go through life being grateful for what you have and have a positive outlook, then life can be good. Charles R. Swindoll said, ” Life is 10% what happens to you, and 90% how you react to it.” I love positive quotes that make you think a little.
